Chandler plays Quizbowl

Saturday morning Oct 25, Chandler had his first practice Quiz bowl game. I think it was only his school Cross Creek and another school named Jerger.

Anna, Maggie, Colin & Chandler. In this round Maggie was the captain, and so she gave the answers. They all took turns being captain, so each could give the answers. On one round there were buzzers, they used to beep in to answer.

This is one of the teams from Jerger school.

I never knew what quiz bowl was, until Chandler came home saying they were having a competition, and he wanted to participate in it. It is kind of like a trivia game. There are 4 players on each team. They have a toss-up question that anyone can answer, then whoever gets that one right, their team gets two bonus questions. If they get a bonus wrong the other team can try to answer correctly and if they do they get the points for the one they got right. They do all kinds of questions, pretty much like a trivial pursuit game, it reminded me of.


Unfortunately they only won one round of the four that they played, but it was just supposed to be a practice. They are going to have more in Jan. and Feb. I think.

Maggie (4th), Colin (3rd), Chandler (4th) & Anna (3rd) were on the Cross Creek Rockers team. On February 7, 2009 they will have the actual competition and Chandler says it will be 3rd grade against 3rd, and 4 &5th against each other.
